Media Sales Jobs - working in media sales

Why work in outdoor or ambient media?

Working with big brands and selling to media agencies; being able to see the results of your hard work all around you and knowing it's visible to potentially millions of people make outdoor a great place to sell media.

The speed of technological development means there’s always something new to learn about and you will benefit from having a creative streak, generating new ideas to bring in new business and increase the spend of your existing clients.

Most outdoor companies are usually smaller than many others - in business media for example - so you won’t be an anonymous number, you'll be a bigger fish which means you need to be prepared to put your head above the parapet and keep it there.

At the other end of the spectrum, the big boys are global players so there's an opportunity to move offices and see a bit of the world whilst still progressing your career with the same company.

"...remember this is a people business and nothing counts more than the relationships you build..."

There are less graduate sales vacancies in the outdoor sector, but you can secure your dream job with media sales experience in any sector, particularly if you’ve got experience dealing with agencies.

With new advances in technology, this is also a sector to watch if you are interested in working for a start-up rather than an established company... word of warning though - start-ups sound cool but aren't for everyone!

"Everyday you learn something new. It is very creative and there’s never a dull moment."

md, screen media network start-up
